Kent Wildlife Trust is asking supporters to help support and expand its Wilder Grazing programme through the Big Give Earth Raise challenge - with every donation DOUBLED for one week only. The match funding goes live from midday today (22 April).
The charity's Amazing Grazing campaign aims to raise £100,000 towards its £120,000 goal between 22-29 April to support nature’s recovery across Kent. During this week-long window, match funding means every gift will have twice the impact for wildlife.
The Wilder Grazing programme uses the natural behaviours of nearly 900 animals - including longhorn cattle, konik ponies, feral goats, Hebridean sheep, Iron Age pigs, and European bison - to restore habitats across 52 sites in Kent. By browsing scrub, churning soil, and creating open ground, these animals help build the varied conditions that species such as nightingales, turtle doves, dormice, and dung beetles need to thrive.
Funds raised will support the day-to-day costs of the programme, expansion to new sites, fencing and water infrastructure, and community engagement.
Alison Ruyter, Wilder Grazing Lead at Kent Wildlife Trust, said: “Conservation grazers are among our most powerful allies in tackling the biodiversity crisis. Their natural behaviours help bring life back to landscapes that machinery simply can't reach. With match funding in place this week, we’re asking people to support our appeal if they can - every donation will go twice as far in helping our grazers continue their vital work.”
The Big Give Earth Raise Challenge runs from 22–29 April only.
