Urgent action needed to remove illegally dumped waste from Sheppey’s protected coastline

Kent Wildlife Trust is calling for immediate action to remove illegally dumped waste from a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) at Eastchurch Gap on the Isle of Sheppey. This protected area, home to vital habitats, is now polluted with hazardous waste, threatening both local communities and wildlife.

The dumping has contaminated feeding grounds for migratory birds, with plastic and debris being ingested by species relying on these waters for survival. Without urgent intervention, this internationally important ecosystem faces long-term damage.

We urge the public to support the campaign by signing the petition to demand the waste’s removal. Every signature strengthens the call for action.
