Raise funds for The Wildlife Trust by signing up for the Big Wild Walk, choose to walk three or 30 kilometers and do your bit to support nature. There are some excellent walks across the trust’s reserves with the story trail at Cromers Wood in Sittingbourne offering the opportunity to read a captivating story to your child as you explore the woodland.
Elsewhere in Ashford the newly-opened triangle trail is fully accessible with smooth paths making the walk easy work for anyone with mobility needs or parents with pushchairs.
Our Visitors Centres also provide an excellent base for a visit as well as hosting a number of fun activities.
Come and enjoy some Halloween inspired wildlife crafts at Tyland Barn in Maidstone or head to the Romney Marsh and Sevenoaks Visitor Centres to take part in the half-term Halloween Trail – a puzzle based trail where those who solve the riddle can win a prize.
For those interested in learning more about the nature on their doorstep why not book a wildlife walking safari at Blean Woods? The guided walk will give you a new insight into the ancient woodland that is now home to European bison. You will learn about what the bison bring to the woodland as well as the other interesting facts about wildlife living in the woods. Will you spot any bats or wood ants?
At Romney Marsh Visitor Centre there is the opportunity to purchase organic pumpkins, grown by the trust’s dedicated volunteers. The colourful pumpkins will not only give any decorated houses the perfect finishing touch, but also taste delicious in a soup!
Nancy Reed of Kent Wildlife Trust said: “We have a wide range of activities on offer to help you keep the children entertained this half-term.
“There is a mix of free and low-priced events to choose from. The Great Costal Birdwatch at Pegwell Bay is free to attend, whilst the Halloween Trail is priced at £4 and the children will win a prize on completion.
“As the seasons change it is a great time to visit our reserves, view the beautiful autumnal colours and see some of the wonderful wildlife that take refuge in our wild spaces. With over 80 reserves across the county, there is sure to be one near you, so check out our website and plan your visit.”
