About the event
These forest bathing events encourage you to take your experience in nature to a new level. Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku, this meditative walk will support your wellbeing by helping you to switch off and connect with your natural environment.
Evidence suggests that practices of this style can boost your immune system, reduce stress and improve sleep. This is an opportunity to simply 'be' in nature, and be guided to connect with the natural world through your five senses. There will be a series of meditative invitations, but none are compulsory and you are encouraged to choose what feels right for you in that moment.
The aim of the sessions is to learn about the healing effects of nature, how to connect on a deeper level, awaken your senses and really slow down. You'll head home with a toolbox of nature connection techniques.
Join us to relax and soothe your body and mind, or simply to try out something new!
You will be guided through Thornden Woods by Louise, from Kent Wildlife Trust's Wellbeing Team. We'll be walking slowly and may stop to sit on the ground or trees, so please bring layers to keep you warm and something waterproof. Walking boots are recommended as we're exploring woodland, and it's best to be hands free- so pack light with a small backpack.
You're welcome to attend an individual event, or to join us regularly to develop your connection and embrace wellness as part of your routine. Bring a friend, or come alone and meet some like-minded souls.
Each event will vary, inspired by the changing seasons, with themes including the Autumn Equinox, the Winter Solstice, Elements and the Healing Power of Trees.
