Wild About Gardens Volunteers Update

Welcome to Ellen Tout – Wild About Gardens Officer!

“I am so pleased to have joined Kent Wildlife Trust as the new Wild About Gardens Officer. Thanks to the ongoing work of our team of volunteers, I dove straight into a season of wildlife-friendly open gardens. This includes volunteers' gardens, the recent event at Tyland Barn and our upcoming Goodnestone Park and Gardens event (7 July) and Langdon Court open garden (14 September).

The first of its kind at Tyland Barn, the open garden event on June 22 included garden tours from Jo Bradley, Nature Parks & Gardens Development Officer, a stand from Kent Wildlife Rescue, a plant sale and owl pellet dissection activities with Anna Peschek and the Education team. It was great to see both the Wild About Gardens and Tyland Barn site volunteers working together, to give visitors advice about planting for wildlife, incorporating habitats into their gardens, identifying species, and more. The open garden attracted a range of different people and really positive feedback.

If you would like to learn more, come and say hello at one of our next open garden events or get in touch. Open Gardens | Kent Wildlife Trust.  We are always looking for new WAG recruits so if you are interested in supporting us please drop me a line, ellen.tout@kentwildlife.org.uk.”
