  • Duration: 1st May 2025 - Ongoing

  • Location: Kent Wide

Overview of the role

The Kent Dolphin Project, a collaborative effort between the Sussex Dolphin Project and Adonis Blue Environmental Consultants, part of the Kent Wildlife Trust Group, is working to better understand and protect whales, dolphins and porpoises (known collectively as cetaceans) in the county’s waters.

Without volunteers we would not be able to have significant effort and gather sufficient data to inform decision making.

What will you be doing?

As a volunteer, you will be taking part in Landwatch surveys. During Landwatch we monitor cetacean activity in a specific area.

Commitment and Considerations
  • No previous experience required
  • Full training is given and you’ll only be asked to do work you are comfortable with
  • Reasonable travel expenses covered
  • No maximum or minimum hours are needed
  • Work depends on weather and tides and is ultimately up to you
  • This role is only open to those over the age of 18

To become a Landwatch volunteer, training will be required. This will be at a cost of £15 pp which will include all resource material and an in-person training event. The training will be hosted by the Managing Director of Sussex Dolphin Project. Three training sessions at three locations across Kent: Isle of Sheppey, Dover, and Dungeness will take place over the summer (dates to be confirmed).
