Explore the world of 'the Bison and the Butterfly' with an activity trail around Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve. Pick up an activity pack from the Visitor Centre to follow the story and complete the trail around Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve.
Once you've finished the trail, you can take home your Bison and Butterfly puzzle booklet and your illustrated book bag to use again and again! There is no need to book in advance to take part in the trail, trail packs available for £5 from the Visitor Centre.
The Bison and the Butterfly Activity Trail at Tyland Barn
On Thursdays and Fridays during August, discover more about the new children's book 'the Bison and the Butterfly' at Tyland Barn. Find out more about how the book was created, and introduce all ages to the benefits of 'wilding' at this family-friendly exhibition. You'll see how illustrator Nancy Leschnikoff developed the characters and how their behaviour in the story is inspired by the real-life animals living in West Blean and Thornden Woods.
Pick up an activity pack to follow the story and complete the trail around the nature park. Once you've finished the trail, you can take home your Bison and Butterfly puzzle booklet and your illustrated book bag to use again and again! £5 per pack.
Family Pond Dipping at Tyland Barn
This summer, join Kent Wildlife Trust's Education team to discover the pond life at Tyland Barn. You'll learn how to safely pond dip without disturbing the wildlife, and have a go at identifying the creatures you find. What will you discover living beneath the surface of our pond?

Join Sevenoaks Jeffery Harrison Visitor Centre, where you will be shown how to dissect their pellets and identify the remains within. Did you know that 57 species of dragonfly and damselfly can be found in Britain? Take part in our family workshop at Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve and learn how to identify local dragonflies and damselflies. This workshop includes a game of dragonfly bingo, followed by making dragonfly themed ornaments to take home.
