You will help with removing scrub and improving the wet grassland for breeding waders at Holborough Marsh. At Peters Pit and Wouldham, aid in the management and restoration of chalk grassland for butterflies and wildflowers.
At Blue Bell Hill, enjoy the stunning views (or watch the rain as it creeps ever closer) whilst helping maintain rich and diverse chalk grassland beauty spot overlooking the Medway valley below. One of the trusts oldest reserves, Stockbury Hill Woods is home to an abundance of Lady Orchids, help to protect and count the population.
The swale sites include Oare Marshes, where you will find yourself managing the reedbed to improve the wet grassland for breeding waders and wildfowl. You will also work at Cromers Wood, working on the rides and glades for wildflowers.

Experience, knowledge and skills needed for this role:
- No previous experience required
- You should be happy to work outdoors in all weathers
- Willing to work as part of a team
- Enthusiastic
- A passion for nature and wildlife
- A driver’s license
- Own vehicle
What's in it for the volunteers:
Working alongside other volunteers in the enhancement of wet grassland, chalk grassland and woodland habitats. You will improve your fitness and your mental wellbeing by working in nature with like-minded people.
No previous experience is required, full training is given and you’ll only be asked to do what you are comfortable with. There is also the potential to receive further training such as leadership training, brushcutter and first aid.
Where is the role based?
Roaming Wednesday Team – Medway and Swale areas. The reserves worked on are all approximately 30 minutes from Maidstone.

1 day per week (Wednesday), 10:00 – 15:00 (5 hours) Come as frequently as you would like
