Wilder Kent Safari: Bats of Sevenoaks
Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve and Jeffery Harrison Visitor Centre,
Bradbourne Vale Road, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN13 3DHAbout the event
Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve is a spectacular site for wildlife, including many species only active after dark. A diverse mix of gravel pits and woodland, with lakes and the River Darenth running through, this is an excellent habitat for bats.
The Area Warden for Kent Wildlife Trust's Sevenoaks reserves will introduce you to the different species you may be able to spot on the reserve, before guiding you to some of the best places for sightings as the sun sets. Armed with bat detectors we'll have a good chance of hearing, and hopefully seeing, a range of bat species calling the reserve home.
The group will be kept small for the best chance of witnessing activity, and so you have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and learn all about these fascinating creatures.
Please be aware that this safari is particularly weather dependent, it may be necessary to postpone at short notice if the conditions on the day mean bats won't be flying.
Tickets for this event have been released early for Kent Wildlife Trust members. Please enter your promo code to release member tickets. Tickets will be available for general sale from 27th August.
This safari is aimed at an adult audience, 14-17 year olds may attend with an accompanying adult over 18. Hoping to bring the children? There will be a special family-friendly version of this event on Saturday 14 September:
This safari will last approximately 2 hours and most of the time will be spent walking or standing. Much of the route follows surfaced paths, but these can be muddy. Ensure you wear sturdy footwear (during periods of wet weather waterproof footwear is advisable) and clothing suitable for the weather conditions.
Toilet facilities will be available at the Visitor Centre at the start of the event. No refreshments will be available to purchase on site, but you are welcome to bring your own food and drink with you and a bottle of water is recommended.
